Introduce your business and tell us your story: How did you decide on what to sell, and how did you source your products?

There was a need for on-demand grocery delivery service where customers could get what they wanted delivered in under 2 hours from their favourite store. The idea was Urbery was hence born. Our personal shoppers, Grocery Gurus, pick directly from the store and deliver to customers doorsteps!

How did you earn your first sales? Which channels are now generating the most traffic and sales for you?

Word of mouth has been very critical to us in the early stages of our business. We are now moving more towards digital marketing efforts (Google Adwords, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram) and creating a social media presence and driving engagement. Google Adwords and Facebook have generated the most traffic and sales for us.

Tell us about the back-end of your business. What tools and apps do you use to run your store? How do you handle shipping and fulfillment?

We use tons of apps to operate our store but our favourite has to Discount app from Bold and Loyalty program from S-Loyalty. Our orders are routed to our Grocery Gurus from our Shopify panel to our back-end app (we use a Zap to connect the platforms). Our Grocery Gurus go to customers' grocery store, shop for the order, and deliver. We have been able to build a very personalized experience where customers can interact with their shopper in real-time as well as track their progress on a map.

What are your top recommendations for new store owners?

It's a marathon not a sprint! Stay focused on the end goal and constantly tweak your offer.
